About Catherine McGann
Catherine has shot a wide range of subjects in her career as a photographer in New York City from 1986 to 2001, and will be posting some choice pix here on a regular basis. During her 15 year tenure as a Contributing Photographer at the weekly alternative newspaper, the Village Voice, she extensively documented the city's music, art, fashion and club scenes. Shooting several Voice assignments per week throughout the eighties and nineties (including a weekly nightlife column with writer Michael Musto) Catherine amassed a unique, in-depth archive of this period in New York's cultural history. Catherine also shot a wide range of portraits of authors, actors, filmmakers, musicians and artists and reportage for publications such as The New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, New York Magazine, Spin, Guitar World and many others. Her work has been published extensively internationally and has been exhibited in galleries in the US and UK. Catherine currently lives in Los Angeles.
